Senator Barack Obama Making History in US Presidential Election!

Sen. Barack Obama reached the finish-line after winning the popular vote and exceeded the number 270 electoral votes required to win the Presidential bid.

Sen. Obama eliminated his colleagues in the Democratic Prmary, including some very powerful, influential figures such as Sen. Clinton and former VP running mate to Sen. Kerry, Sen. Edward, and also turned some of the red States, traditionally known to support the Republican Party, into past national elections, into blue States and eventually won the Presidential bid.

States such as Virginia, North Carolina, and Iowa, have turned their back on the Republican Party as a result of President Bush's administration and handling of the war. But the huge benefit for the Democratic Party came from the issue of the economy. Almost all exit polls indicated that Americans don't trust Sen. McCain with the economy.

Another thing that Sen. Obama's campaign did effectively was motivating young people to turn up at polling stations. There are more college and senior high school students voting for Sen. Obama than McCain. The undecided also leaned toward Sen. Obama.

Sen. Obama also made historic fund-raising, mostly on-line, by raising $600 million twice as much as his opponent. His nation-wide network helped propelled him to where he is today.

Another good news for the Democratic Party is that it has a slight lead in the Senate, 50-45, but fell short of the majority sufficient to Filibuster any Republican resolutions in the Senate.

However, this is not the end and Sen. Obama also knows that in order to be a successful President, he needs the support of the Republican party, especially now that the US economy is going down the drain.

On the contrary, the Republican Party had been hurt tremendously by two unpopular wars, one in Afghanistan and the other in Iraq, but more so the deterioration of the American economy. The Republican earlier on had a slight leader during the invasion of Georgia by he Russians, but cool off quickly when the US ecomony went down hill with giant mortgage companies and banks filing for bankruptcy.

The winner of this national election demonstrated the final-chapter in the political transition that seen in the US since the 60s, 80s-90s. Some 40 years ago, Black people were gradually moving to the center of the main-stream America, but still weren't allow to vote. Today, Sen. Obama proved to the world that America is a new country. A country that is able to elect leaders regardless of their names and race, as the head of state and Commander-in-Chief.

Now, we just have to wait and see. Sen. Obama have given a lot of promises, some may never come true in the course of his presidency, some may only go through with the support of the Republican party.
